Would this be the elements, or has someone been there with a sledge?

it looks too perfect that I think it was meant to be this way.

Wow, interesting.

Got to wonder what happened - maybe the rock was partially fractured before it became a headstone? It's always possible of course that information was uncovered which indicated "Dearest Dad" was not quite so dear as everyone thought and this would certain imply a crack in his "dear" facade.

Just thinking out loud, you understand.

Yes, I agree. I think being cleaved in two was part of the design. look at the word 'July' ...

Golly, the gremlins have been out your comment stream.

The strange thing with this memorial, is that 'dearest Dad' would have only been 25, so Sonny-jim (or daughter-jan) is perhaps a bit young for irony.

I wonder if Ross was the first name or the family name?

How unusual ...

Interesting. I wonder what happened to the stone. Surely it wasn't meant to be like that! It gives an odd message if that was the case.

He was a bit young to have a 'dearest dad' bestowed on him.
I wonder how old the marker is - it seems far too modern for the 1940s.
