Yep, there would seem to be something slightly incongruous about a bunch of people in sweaty shorts and shirts working out in sight of such glorious chandeliers.
A beautiful mezzanine! I think the exercisers would find it rather fun to be able to people-watch while treading the treadmill. On the other hand, as one of the people, I'd prefer to not look at folks exercising - for several reasons, one being they'd make me feel guilty for my lay-about lifestyle! :)
There's a workout area in our athletics complex that has big windows allowing for views down to the pathways and parking lot below- that's what that upper floor reminds me of. The lobby as a whole is beautiful!

Working out under the gaze of shoppers doesn't appeal to me, yet it's a light=filled, cheerful place.

It's so those healthy people can look down on the unfit.

Fitness spots with a window on the world seem to be popular. I don't find that appealing but it may work for a see-and-be-seen crowd.
