Re your comment on Oala: I almost didn't post that photo of the plane because of that stupid car! I was not able to get a shot without the car. But then I thought it could stand on its own even with the car. :-)
The BofE wanted a bigger building so that everyone is in one place. McMaster University bought the site for their own expansion. Either one could have developed the massive parking lot and land around, but no provision for retaining this landmark was made.

demolition has begun today on this beautiful building... in spite of a community's best efforts
... plus ça change. In 50 years they'll be tearing down the replacement.
