a newer plaque has been installed on this weatherworn gravestone marker for George Willis who was born 18 December, 1856 and emigrated to Canada in 1871. The census records list him as a miller (1881) and a farmer (1891, 1901 and 1911). George and Margaret would have two children, Minnie Dorcas (1881) and a son Guy Burlington (1879), possibly named after the area in which he was born.at Waterdown Union Cemetery for a Taphophile Tragics

Someone wanted these people to be remembered by reviving their names! Interesting to see the two versions together!
Poor George lived a long, long time after Margaret's death.
Someone still remembers them to have a new plaque fitted. Great picture.

I wonder who had the new plaque made? The kids were just tweeners when their mom died, and it was shortly after dad turned into a farmer. Hmmm... It's an interesting grave marker... looks a bit like my funerary stupas... tall and slim...
I see a lot of that over here. Maybe not a lot, but some, at any rate. I guess it to be descendents of some sort, in a grouping. Probably keen on family history, etc. That is the path that I am on.
It is a shame though, that they did not add their identification to the plaque. I do like the shape of that original tombstone. It has a reassuring strength of line.
