I'd say it is a swallow, too... having taken exactly the same photo a few weeks ago, and that's the only birds I've seen here. But for once I only had a small P&S with me and it came out horrid. Nice capture!

The nest looks like a barn swallow to me. At this stage it looks like so many other chicks: one big, demanding beak. What a great shot!
