'Standing tall' I understand to be 'nearer to God'. This is quite different from our older cemeteries here in Sydney. We have a more defined 'foot' to our graves, in addition to similar headstones. We also have more 'rows' for ambling. One would have to take care in Hamilton Cemetery where one treads, least disturbing those slumbering beneath!
Thank you for once again contributing to Taphophile Tragics. I value your participation.
These are all in their original, almost haphazard, position. Not only are the rows not straight, but the front and back of these gravestones seems to vary sometimes, though most face the street which was possibly a much nicer view then.
i like those tall ones! and yes, the book about henrietta lacks told me a lot i did not know... and a lot of stuff i was really surprised about that it still happens/happened.
They stand like chess pieces moving willy-nilly as the game of life is played out to its natural end. I love the seemingly casual placement of the obelisks that created such a personal and human setting.

I have often wondered about these obelisk styled headstones, but I guess that is a way of reaching heavenward.
Much like a gathering of church spires without the churches! Interesting view!
They are all standing tall. Are these in their original location or have they been moved?

Very much like our older cemeteries, a variety of personalized headstones.
