mothers and daughters

three generations - mother daughter and granddaughter - resting under this new looking memorial.
"Surrounded by her children, Catharina was carried on to glory to be with her Lord and Saviour in her 72nd year, in the evening of December 30, 2010." There were still six children surviving and 34 grandchildren plus ten great-grandchildren. All of whom spent Christmas Day with Catharina, including a newly found estranged daughter of Yvonne's who was taken to live away by her paternal grandparents (found on a personal blog designed to help find the missing family member)

Stillborn, how sad. Also how unusual to have their maiden names recorded on theit memorial. Great picture.

Interesting that all 3 women are gathered here and no male in sight! There must have been a special bond there!

they would be Dutch, there are lot of Dutch people in this area.

judging by the blog I found, they are a very close and religious family.
but no mention of any father.

The grounding beneath this headstone raises just so many questions. The ages of the departed raises them also. None of them were very old. Even Catharina was only 72 and to have so many descendents already. Yee ...

Yvonne was only 22, and yet there was another estranged daughter. What an interesting blog to stumble upon.

My apologies for being so late with my visit this week. Other (higher) duties called me away.

it was an interesting blog - I felt almost guilty reading something so personal, but then it was put out there. and there was a lot that was not said.
the daughter was estranged, I believe, because her other grandparents took her out of the country after her mother's death and it took awhile to find out where she had gone.
