I don't usually find graves sad.But this one pulls at my heart strings.I'm not sure why - maybe coz it's obviously a loved memorial but the angel has lost her head.
Someone still misses Dandie very, very much.
What a puzzlement, Hamilton. To me the headstone does not appear at all new. Maybe the small statue on the top edge is a clue. Could it be a dog's grave? Here in Australia it would not be allowed, to mix animal with human memorials. And what could have drawn the mourners to decorate the marker with a Christmas theme. Well, yes, other than it being Christmas time, of course. No dates, not other clues.I wonder what is in that little envelope with the ribbon at the base of the marker? A fascinating contribution to Taphophile Tragics. And enduring mystery ...
I need to return to tell you that my word verification was 'unded' ...
The one envelope has a picture of a baby - perhaps a grandchild? and also a letter that starts 'dear mom, we miss you very much'
Someone cares enough to visit and decorate this grave. Maybe the departed really liked Christmas.
I wonder if they do this every year and that tree was planted with Christmas in mind?
Interesting that a wreath is used to commemorate both Xmas - and the departed!! But doesn't it make you wonder who 'Dandie' was?!
